THOUGHTS FROM THE DIRECTOR

On June 21 Curt Hess, and on September 5 Clarence Dickinson, realized the ultimate victory, to be absent from the body and present with the Lord. Both men have been long-standing supporters of Rock Lake and it’s ministry. Both men leave behind a legacy of faithfulness to the Lord of this universe and the Kingdom He established on this earth. I count it a privilege and blessing to have known both of these great men of God.

Curt was a great encourager to this Camp Director. His smile and gentle spirit always brightened the office when he would drop in for a visit, and he always seemed to know just what to say to make the day a little better.

Clarence was an inspiration and a bringer of smiles to the entire staff. After moving to the house next to the camp office he became a “family campground fixture” bringing many a humorous moment to a late evening campfire. He was not only the best “renter” a landlord could have, but became a good friend. Even more than a great friend it was like having my dad living across the street.

Both of these men are greatly missed by all who knew them. May each one of us be found carrying their legacy on to the next generation. This world needs, perhaps now more than ever, men and women who, like Curt and Clarence, are willing to stand on principle and who are faithful to the Sovereign God of this universe.

May each one of us be found leaving this ol’ world just a little bit better than the way we found it.

A WORD FROM DAN OUR FACILITIES / MAINTENANCE MAN

Too often we look back on the summer and find that it went by way too fast. This summer in particular we had a lot of “irons in the fire” including: the Wilderness Camp, landscaping around the lodges, a new pavilion, new stairs on Raum Hall, and most noticeable, the new deck at the waterfront (Shelly’s Landing).

Each of these projects was necessary in it’s own right, and by the blessings of God they were accomplished. The Assembly could not have done this without the help of the fifty or so volunteers who unselfishly and graciously gave of their time, talents and tools to accomplish these projects.

If I had two wishes for this summer they would be:

First - to be able to record all the positive comments that have surrounded the various projects and send them to all of you who made it possible in one of those fancy Hallmark Cards that open up and play a recording.

Second - I wish that all of you could see the smiling faces of those who utilized the ramp to get down to the lake and participate in the various activities. Until the ramp, many of these individuals had no means of accessing that part of camp property.

Words, whether printed or spoken, are not enough to thank you for helping make these projects a great success.

If you’re wondering what else needs to be done, check out the “Projects Needing Supplies / Volunteers / Funds” section of this publication.

TRUSTEES MEETINGS

The Trustees of Rock Lake Christian Assembly meet on the third Monday of the month at the Camp Office and Welcome Center. Meetings start at 7:00 PM and are open to all persons interested in The Assembly and it’s ministry. There is always an opportunity for “Public Comments” at the beginning of each meeting.

ANNUAL

MEETING

Saturday - October 20, 2007

10:00 AM at Blue Spruce Lodge

The Annual Meeting is open to everyone who is interested in the ministry of The Assembly. All input will be appreciated and duly noted, however per the By-Laws, only Registered Church Representatives will be able to vote during the meeting.

This is an excellent opportunity to hear the latest reports (first hand), fellowship with other supporters, give input, ask questions and yes - enjoy a nice lunch provided by the camp.

According the the By-Laws each congregation is to call into the Camp Office with the names of it’s Church Representatives before the date of the meeting.

ANOTHER CAMPER HEARD FROM!

“Dear faculty and other staff, I want to thank you very much for all your work this week and in past years. Thanks to RLCA All Girls Camp I’ve learned more about my Savior, Jesus Christ, than I would have just in church. I’ve beome closer to the Lord and last November I was baptized at my church. I’m very thankful and hope that RLCA will continue on for awhile. This is the last year I can attend 3rd - 7th Grade All Girls week, but I’ll remember it forever. I’ve gone all five years! Thanks again.”

FINANCIAL OPPORTUNITY

“When someone is immersed, they should be required to take their money bag with them.” - Martin Luther (paraphrased)

If You Had Access To A Financial Opportunity That Would:

INCREASE your gift to RLCA by 100 - 270%?

GIVE you access to 100% surrender value without penalties after policy is in force for one year?

LEAVE to your family proceeds that are tax-free with no probate cost?

GIVE you available funds for emergencies during your lifetime and yet provide for your family and RLCA when the Lord takes you home?

IF you choose, give you a guaranteed lifetime income with further tax benefits?

Would you be willing to give consideration to a Modified Endowment Contract that provides all of the above.

Rock Lake Christian Assembly has been and remains committed to building the Kingdom of God. The Assembly has touched thousands of lives since its inception in 1919. Perhaps you are one of those who have been blessed and encouraged. The strength of RLCA to continue her ministry will come only by strengthening her financial foundation.

If you have monies that you plan to “leave on - not live on” you could participate in a Modified Endowment Contract (if you qualify) and help to financially bless both your family and this ministry. This contract is a Win - Win arrangement for everyone involved.

If you would like to learn more about this opportunity, please call the Camp Office, 989-268-5377, and ask for Henry. He will be able to answer questions and put you in touch with someone who can help with the details of setting up your contract.
