Frequently Asked Questions About RLCA

The following is a list of questions we are often asked about Rock Lake and its programs. We will continue to add to this list.

Youth Programs:

What camp should my child go to?
The camp sessions are based upon the grade your child is going into the fall after the camp session. Example: If your child is in 1st grade this year, they will be going to the 2nd grade camp.

What should my child bring to camp?
The Camp Registration Form contains this particular information. Be sure that your child has enough clean clothes to last the full camp session. You may want to pack an extra set, just in case. Also warm and cool weather clothes are a good idea.

What if my child has special medical needs?
We have trained and certified medical personnel on site 24 hours a day during camp sessions.

Can my child call home from camp if they get homesick?
Campers are not allowed to make phone calls. Please DO NOT allow child to bring cell phones.
If it becomes necessary, a faculty member will call home and talk with a parent. Our goal is to have a child succeed in this area of their life.

Do you use corporal punishment for discipline problems?
The answer is NO! We are forbidden by licensing rules to use any form of physical contact as a punishment. Neither are we to administer any other kind of punishment that is detrimental to your child's physical or mental well being. We recognize that the behavior we see is usually a symptom and not the real problem. For this reason, a faculty member will take the time to talk with the child causing the problems. If the behavior continues, they are taken to either the Dean of Boys or the Dean of Girls. If the behavior still continues they are taken to the Dean of the week of camp. If the problem is still not resolved the camper is taken to the Camp Director's Office. The Camp Director's only role in this procedure is to call home and request a parent to come and pick up their child. There is no rebate of the camp fee for campers who are sent home early.
